For the Habit Mini Project, I have chosen to change my least favorite habit that I find myself doing, which is stressing about homework. I am somebody who likes to stay ahead of my work for the week, so most of the time I prefer to do homework over the weekend. A weeks worth of work in 3 days stresses me out to the max, but it is what is necessary to have more studying time. The idea I thought would best help me the most out of the 25 I came up with was making a to do list by date and time. Actually mapping out what assignment I am going to do at specific times makes me realize that the work load is doable, and there is nothing to stress over. If I am ahead of schedule, I can always pick the next day's project to free up some time on Sunday. The only thing that worries me with this method is not allotting myself enough time to complete something, I may rush to finish it. However, overall I think this day planner was very helpful because it makes me feel like I have my life together.
This project helped my understanding of divergence because I was so much quicker with the brainstorming process after several practices we did in class. I began to stop filtering ideas, and just wrote down what came to mind. Near the end I built off of other ideas that were positive ways of thinking to free my mind of any stress. The true meaning of divergence to me is the closer you are to not filtering any "bad" ideas that come to mind. Every idea has a value and can lead to a brilliant idea if they keep building off each other. I really enjoyed this project because it made me turn a negative into a positive while challenging my brain to think of different ways to relax. I can definitely say that after this week, I have a different mindset about how I can brainstorm for the future!
